The Power Team

Sure, I'm religious. I don't necessarily go to church every Sunday or read the Bible every night but I do believe in God and I believe in the beliefs of my religion. However, I don't know why people constantly try to force ideas about religion into other people's head. I understand why they do what they do, but sometimes I feel it's more peer pressure then anything else. Dedicating yourself to Christ should be something you want to do. Now, don't get me wrong I think everyone should believe in something, preferably God, but I would never force that upon anyone. To me this is all a very sensitive subject because I've been back and forth so many times and confused on what to believe. The Power Team's ideas and methods are effective because, there are people who might need these kind of tactics to "save" them from the sin they have committed and devote themselves to the Lord. Maybe some people just need something to believe in. Either way I think it's interesting to read The Power Team's approaches to help make a believer and devoter. It makes learning about God interesting and gives real life examples to show why you need Christ in your life. As for me, this like I said is a sensitive subject. So, I'm going to leave this entry short and sweet.

Plagiarism-It's a bigger issue then I thought

When it comes to plagiarism, it's clear that it's bad. But, my biggest issue with it is how do you cite correctly so you don't have to plagiarize to begin with. If you do the citation wrong it's still considered plagiarism. And, my question is, whenever you copy a paragraph do you have to cite every single sentence or just quote the whole thing? There are so many exceptions to plagiarism it's hard to keep track of everything. And, as the age of the internet is evolving so much, plagiarism is obviously becoming more of a problem. Donald J. Dudley says, " Writing is difficult, and doing it well takes time and practice". But that doesn't mean stealing someone else's work is going to help your ability to write.
I kind of always thought that maybe I just didn't learn how to cite correctly in high school or maybe I just didn't understand how to do it, but now in college I never thought how big of an issue plagiarism was because it was never stressed as much in high school. Sarah Wilensky said, "If you're taught how to closely read sources and synthesize them into your own original argument in middle and high school, you're not going to be tempted to plagiarize in college, and you certainly won't do so unknowingly". My point exactly, learning how to not do it and cite correctly. Another issue, are middle and high schools slacking on teaching students how to cite correctly. It is clear it's an issue, and now it's just learning how to cite correctly so I'll never have the problem of thinking, did I plagiarize?

Since I was little I wanted to be famous. But, years went on and I started to realize that's not going to happen. So, I took everything I love and jumbled it together to come up with the perfect major for me-broadcasting. I get to be on TV, write, act, and one thing I love to do; talk. I've debated 2 topics for my research paper: Sports Broadcasting and Entertainment Broadcasting. It's between those 2 things that I know I want to do for the rest of my life and by researching it I think it will really help me decide what I want to do.
Answers I want to find out:
How much money do you make? (superficial I know)
For sports-Can you focus on one specific sport?
What things I have to have the most knowledge of?
Should I go to graduate school?
Where should I try to get a internship at?
Should I move? If so where?
Best place to move to? Especially to get noticed?
How to become a successful broadcaster?
What should I become involved in during school?

I know I'll think of a lot more questions in the future but for now those are my main focus questions.

Attached to Technology and Paying a Price

I'm not going to lie; The first thing I do when I wake up is roll over check my phone. Soon thereafter, I turn my computer on to check my Facebook.   It's really unintentional, but it is just what my brain is wired to do. Nora Volkrow, director of the National Institution of Drug Abuse, says that "technology is rewiring our brains" and sadly, I agree because if I even dared to change my daily morning routine, I am not sure how the rest of my day would be complete. On average, I probably spend about 90% of my day using some unit of technology, mostly because my phone never leaves my side. In comparison, recent studies have found that people consume about 12 hours a day on average using technology, and in 1960 the study found technology use at 5 hours. Although many researchers and observers say technology is hindering our personal communication methods, some say technology can benefit the brain by helping us to develop visual techniques and information. I do agree that technology has changed our generation tremendously, however, I believe that there are positives and negatives about the change and that there are more positives than negatives. Although most of my peers use technology for personal use through text messaging, email, pleasure, there are uses for technology that can benefit society for informational researching and other ways of studying and communications. Plain and simple, technology makes life easy. Everyday life is made easier through the use of technology and the quick responses that we receive from email, cellular use, text messaging, researching, and even the use of household items that have increased technology. From research we have found that our neural networks continue to develop, influenced by things like learning skills, and by everyday use of technology. Therefore, this brings me to believe that technology is helping our brains to develop as we grow and that as long as technology does not hinder our everyday activity, it is nothing but entertainment and a really good informational resource.
